My clumsiness around hot things is not a strength here

Alright, so full disclosure I'm pretty sufficient at this part. I know the basics, I know the technique, I just need to practice. This week I'm using TikTok as my educational tool, because I feel like watching other professionals do their thing, with their little tips and tricks and unique quirks will be super beneficial. I also was able to watch about 50 seperate videos under the hashtag #solderingstainedglass because the videos are so short and compact. So here's what I learned:
So apparently I'm supposed to solder the joints first, and then the rest of the piece. This seems so obvious but it's just one of those things you don't know until you've seen it. You can find this video and creator here.
Next up is soldering a line while keeping the solder and the pen in contact. Usually I get some solder on my pen and then put it down, but this video shows her doing it all in one swoop, so we're gonna try that instead!
In this video, it shows the two above strategies, but what I saw was how little solder they used. I tend to use a lot and then my piece can look really weird, it's good to see that less is more.
Well friends, this was the last step in the process. I hope you've enjoyed our little journey and there will be a big reveal of the completed lamp panel in my next post! See you then!
