Okay, I'm gonna be honest, I was not sold on trying coding. I see those MasterClass workshops and Women In Coding Workshops all the time on my Instagram and they've just never ever piqued my interest. So when we were asked to not only code, but to code at a gradeschool level? Personally not interested. That being said, my life has forever changed.

I LOVE CODING!

This was so much fun, I literally spent 3 hours straight making my little game, so let me share the process with you.

The first couple steps were honestly not too exciting, just making the little monsters and having them move around, that being said it did take me a couple tries to get things to the right scale. Then came the fun part.

The basis of this game is basically just a simpler version of that game that was really popular in 2014 called Plague Inc. If you're unfamiliar, it's a game that starts with Patient 0 and tracks a pandemic through the world. Now imagine that but for 8 year olds and with monsters. Now this game in particular is to teach the importance of vaccines and masks in a pandemic, which I think is super important, especially for kids. Additionally, as the game goes on, there's a Public Health Scientist that gives us information and logistics of how a pandemic spreads, so we get some expert input on the subject as well.

Once I started making the When _______, then ________ codes, things picked up quite a bit for me. It walked me through everything I needed to know and do, while still giving me enough autonomy to make mistakes and correct them, which I thought was fantastic. This went on for about an hour until I had a pretty solid chunk of code. And I really could have stopped there and had a fulfilling experience, but I was in too deep now. I made a vaccinated monster, so that when two masked monsters meet they get vaccinated. I also brought death into the equation as well, which was not part of the game but I thought it was necessary.

Here are some of the pictures and mini vlogs I took during the process:

This is the little monster I made to mean "vaccinated". As you can see he has a stick it to covid sticker and a bandaid.

In this next video, you'll see just how much fun I had doing this.

And finally, this video I took when I made a big booboo. Now luckily for me the website saves your progress every minute or so, so all I had to do was start back at one of the saved points. But I really thought I had lost it all.

Anyways, that's all I have for you this week, enjoy this picture of my certificate!
